What does means the word hospitality for us? Means offering to our guests something more than a simple room. Hotel San Michele is in the heart of the Old Town, a few steps by the sea, and this amazing sea is the centre of Mediterranean History.
Every bathrooms and the breakfast room too has been commissioned by local craftsmen. In every room there are different specific colors, made by craftsmen with Anatolia cloths, but it is also important the complements of bathrooms, from the famous collection CemenTiles by Bisazza.
But the most interesting work is in the preservation of some details, that are part of the history of the ancient building, such as ceramic tiles used to decorate the floor, or the great arch in tuff, that we have renovated. We also renovated the historical and ancient stairway, an architectural element made by craftsmanship.

A luxury property
The Hotel’s Interiors
We are among the remains of an ancient church, originally built in 1436 as evidenced by a significant tuff that represents San Michele, now placed in the hall of the Bishop's Palace. The property had its evolution during Renaissance when it was expanded to become the site which, in the rest of the year, hosted the "vare" that, in the Trapani Easter, compose the Procession.
The church, in Renaissance style, presented for the first time in Trapani a dome in accordance with the Arab-Byzantine art. The entrance was preceded by an yard in Via San Michele; on the left of the entrance there was a chapel with a statue of the Archangel in white marble. The dimensions of the church were rather small, 6 meters wide and 12 long.
The powerful Brotherhood of St. Michael Archangel wanted to create a large chapel to guard the "Misteri" groups. The project was entrusted to the architect Giovanni Biagio Amico, was built with the proceeds of sales of goods of the Brotherhood, and led to the construction (1712 - 1749) of a Oratory 11 meters large and and 15 meters deep, with a characteristic horseshoe shape. Along the perimeter were built some chapels protected by glass to preserve the Holy Groups, which were given directly to the workers.
The bombardments of 1943 and the post-war period, urbanization was buried and abandoned to carelessness a piece of history that today becomes the place where spend your sojourn in Trapani.
Unfortunately, time and disinterest have destroyed much of the architectural and historic beauty of the old building. But in the reconstruction we tried in every way to preserve the proof of that period and, rather, to valorize them in the functional and welcoming architecture and for this reason we have chosen to build the hotel. Among the most evident details the remains of one of the arches of the nave, which stands in the atrium, or inserts of ancient pottery that we used as "rugs" and as inserts on some ceilings.
And then there are the ancient stairs of Trapani, real masterpieces of "master masons", the pride of the Trapani’s workers.
